The Luckenbooth design is one of two entwined hearts (symbolising love) with a crown over the top (that symbolises loyalty). It is one of the most romantic Scottish symbols of love from the 17th century. The Luckenbooth was traditionally given as a token of betrothal, affection or friendship. It was at times pinned to newborn's blanket as a good luck charm.
